Description
What is Qobuz?
Qobuz is a music streaming service that started in 2007 in France and expanded to other major European countries, later becoming available in the United States in 2019.
The goal of Qobuz is to provide Hi-Fi and Hi-Res music without any quality loss, aiming to deliver a better streaming experience for professional listeners. This service strives to stand out from other music streaming competitors.
With 70 million high-quality tracks and over 424,000 Hi-Res albums, Qobuz is recognized for its extensive catalog and superior sound quality compared to other well-known audio streaming services.
What sets it apart is that all music on Qobuz is of higher quality (even MP3s are 360kbps) and its collection, when compared to TIDAL’s Hi-Res music collection, is the largest available, including newly released music.
Instead of playlist generation via algorithms, Qobuz’s staff handpicks music recommendations for you.
Finding new music on Qobuz is like going to a record store, listening to music directly from the artist, and enjoying full albums.
Qobuz Account Plans
Qobuz offers three main subscription tiers:
- Premium Plan:
The Premium plan allows streaming at MP3 quality of 360 kbps 44.1 kHz, which is higher than Spotify Premium and YouTube Music accounts. - Hi-Fi Plan:
The Hi-Fi plan allows streaming at FLAC 16-bit 44.1 kHz (CD quality), which matches standard CD quality and the Deezer Hi-Fi plan. - Studio Premier Plan:
The Studio Premier plan allows streaming at FLAC 24-bit 192kHz (Hi-Res), providing significantly higher quality than standard CD quality and superior to TIDAL Hi-Fi and Apple Music accounts. It also grants access to the entire catalog of music in CD quality and Hi-Res albums.
Features of Qobuz Account
One of Qobuz’s standout features, not commonly found in competing services, is the ability to buy music with download options. You can purchase High-Res tracks without needing a streaming account.
If you have the Sublime+ plan, you get much lower prices for purchases, along with unlimited streaming. You can download your purchased files in AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, or WAV formats.
The music discovery process on Qobuz is slightly different from other platforms. The service features playlists of newly released music and various genres, created by its staff.
Artists also create playlists of their favorite tracks with notes about those playlists.
You can also search for news, articles, and panoramas (articles about a particular artist, label, or genre).
Which Devices Does Qobuz Support?
Qobuz is accessible on many devices. The app is available for Windows, Mac, web browsers, Android, and iPhone, as well as Hi-Fi products.
The service is compatible with many devices that support Google Cast/Chromecast, Airplay, and Bluetooth.
